Ms. Gulnaz Tariq (United Arab Emirates) PAST PRESIDENT

Gulnaz Tariq is the CEO of the International Interprofessional Wound Care Group(IIWCG) and the Past President of the World Union of Wound Healing Societies(WUWHS). Currently based in the UAE, she works as a Wound Care Consultant, having previously served as the Assistant Director of Nursing at Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) in Abu Dhabi.

Gulnaz holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing (RN, BSc) and a Postgraduate Diploma. She graduated at the top of her class in the province and completed her postgraduate studies with honors. In 2007, she furthered her international wound care expertise by completing the International Interprofessional Wound Care Course(IIWCC) from the University of Toronto. She earned her MSc in Skin Integrity from the University of Hertfordshire (UK) in 2014.

As a respected wound care educator, clinician, and researcher, Gulnaz is recognized as a key opinion leader both locally and internationally. In 2015, she founded the Ostomy Care and Management (OCM) course and currently serves as its course director. She is also a co-author of the fifth edition of the textbook Chronic Wound Care and has published over 25 papers in the field.

Among her significant contributions, Gulnaz introduced diabetic foot and pressure injury prevention programs across SEHA (the Abu Dhabi Health Services Company). She played a pivotal role in integrating the Wound Bed Paradigm into the electronic medical record (EMR) system with the help of CERNER for all SEHA facilities. Additionally, she has organized the annual Abu Dhabi Wound Care Conference for the past 16 years. Gulnaz was appointed as the course co-director for the IIWCC in the UAE through the University of Toronto.

She is also the founder and CEO of IIWCG, a member of the International Society for Wound Care and Prevention (ISWCAP), and a former Director for the Middle East at the International Skin Tear Advisory Panel (ISTAP). She serves as a reviewer for Advances in Skin & Wound Care journal, Editorial board member of International Wound Journal, and is an executive board member of the Interprofessional Wound Care Association (IWCA). In 2021, she was appointed Clinical Advisor for Debra Pakistan, and she is currently President-Elect of the Pakistan Wound Management Association (PWMA).
